Description/Information

Track 1

Here is the DI recording of the bass.

We would recommend recording the DI and blending it with the microphone recordings to taste. For the purpose of this study however, we chose not to add it with the microphone recordings to give you a better idea of what the microphones sound like on their own.

Tracks 2 to 6

We tested five different microphones placed 2 inches on axis from the center of the cone and added a room microphone, the C414, placed away from the Amp roughly the same length of the Amp. We positioned the room microphone according to where we think sounded best by using our ear and moving around.

Tracks 7 & 8

Here we experimented with the 421 and SM57 off-axis 2 inches from the cone. We kept the room microphone in the same position.

We would also recommend trying the phase reverse button to get different tones and avoid phasing issues.
